Congresswoman Janelle Bynum (OR-05) has received reports that there is an increased ICE presence in the Bend community, causing families to not access the resources being offered to them out of fear. Today, Rep. Bynum led a letter urging Immigration and Customs Enforcement to halt its non-emergency enforcement operations in Bend and Deschutes so families can heal and access resources without fear following the recent Silver Rail Elementary School shooting.
Three children, ages 5, 8, and 11, and a teacher were killed and two more people, a 7-year-old student and a teacher, were critically injured.
