U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) is demanding that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) immediately ban the use of four toxic chemicals scientifically linked to cancer when used in food and food production. In a letter sent to FDA Commissioner Dr. Martin Makary, Senator Booker urged the approval of a petition that would "amend food and color additive regulations to remove four solvents: benzene, ethylene dichloride, methylene chloride, and trichloroethylene (TCE) as food ingredients or as substances used in the production of food."
