WASHINGTON, Oct. 1 -- The U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Land Management issued the following press release:
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho-The Bureau of Land ManagementIdaho Falls District has temporarily closed the road that leading to the top ofBig Southern Butte. Vehicular access on the road goes into effect immediately due to the road being impassable. Recent severe rainstorms caused substantial damage, including boulder displacement and significant erosion. For public safety, the gate at the base of Big Southern Butte has been secured and will remain closed until all necessary repairs can be completed.
