SACRAMENTO, CA - Assemblymember Patrick Ahrens(D-Cupertino) and Assemblywoman Heather Hadwick(R-Alturas) today announced that they are leading a bipartisan effort to defend Head Start's foundational and evidence-backed performance standards from aproposal by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that would strip the standards that underpin Head Start's high-quality and comprehensive services. Public comment on the proposal is due October 6, 2026.
