Messages obtained by U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) show personnel at the Biden U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), including personnel assigned to Jack Smith's Special Counsel Office (SCO), potentially mishandled classified materials themselves amid Smith's own investigation into President Trump's alleged mishandling of classified documents.
The messages, provided by DOJ in response to Grassley's oversight requests, reveal:
1. An individual was given access to classified materials without confirming they had the requisite "need to know."
