ST. MARY'S CITY, Md., Aug. 7 -- St. Mary's College of Maryland issued the following news release:
A signal cannon blast from the Maryland Dove indicated the early morning arrival of Dark Star, the first boat to cross the floating finish line at the 53rd AnnualGovernor's Cup Yacht Race, presented by PNC Bank, held July 31 - Aug 1, 2026.
The Governor's Cup features a race from Annapolis to St. Mary's College of Maryland in St. Mary's City, connecting the state's current capital with its first capital. A Potomac leg of the race was offered this year, beginning in Dahlgren, Virginia.
