US, Oct. 15 -- Egypt welcomed 14.4 million international visitors in the first nine months of 2026, up 4% from the same period last year, according to figures shared following the Egyptian Tourism Authority's participation in the WTTC Global Summit in Malta. With approximately 35,000 hotel rooms in development and airport expansion plans across the country, Egypt is working toward a target of 30 million annual visitors by 2030.

The ambition reaches beyond attracting more tourists to the pyramids or the Red Sea. Egypt wants to open more of the country to international travelers, encourage private investment and make its heritage, beaches, cities and natural landscapes easier to reach.

Its challenge is clear: more visitors need more room...
