A young Cuban woman, visibly exhausted, has become such an image.

For Amarilis Chayla, a social media user active in online communities centered around Cuban culture, arts, and music, the photograph represents far more than one exhausted person. Chayla frequently engages with content from prominent Cuban artists and virtual journeys through Havana. When she shared the image, she accompanied it with an emotional reflection on what she sees happening to ordinary Cubans. Her words deserve to be heard beyond Cuba and beyond the Cuban diaspora.
