Senior journo acquitted in sexual harassment caseChennai May 14 (UNI) A Metropolitan Magistrate Court oin Chennai has acquitted a senior journalist of sexual harassment charges levelled in June 2018.The Saidapet MM Court acquitted Dr Prakash M Swamy (71)--a former UN Correspondent--holding that the charges made by the complainant are belated, untrustworthy and unsustainable.The court pointed out that the complaint was brought before the court even though the investigating officer had filed a closure report finding no merit in the charges levelleel by complainant Gayatri Sai alias Gayatri Sainath, 60, a retired movie junior artist of Alwarpet in Chennai.चेन्नई, 14 मई (वार्ता) तमिलनाडु में चेन्नई की एक मेट्रोपॉलिटन मजिस्ट्रेट अदालत ने जून 2018 में लगाए गए यौन उत्पीड़न के आरोपों में एक वरिष्ठ पत्रकार को बरी कर दिया है।
सैदापेट मेट्रोपॉलिटन मजिस्ट्रेट अदालत ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र के पूर्व संवाददाता डॉ. प्रकाश एम स्वामी (71) को यह मानते हुए बरी कर दिया कि शिकायतकर्ता द्वारा लगाए गए आरोप विलंबित, अविश्वसनीय और निराधार हैं।
अदालत ने बताया कि चेन्नई के अलवरपेट की रहने वाली एक सेवानिवृत्त फिल्म जूनियर कलाकार और शिकायतकर्ता गायत्री साई उर्फ गायत्री साईनाथ (60) द्वारा लगाए गए आरोपों में कोई दम न होने के कारण जांच अधिकारी ने मामला बंद करने की रिपोर्ट दाखिल कर दी थी, फिर भी शिकायत अदालत में लाई गई।

उनके सम्मान में वाशिंगटन डीसी के कैपिटल हिल पर एक दिन के लिए अमेरिकी राष्ट्रीय ध्वज (सितारा और धारीदार) फहराया गया और भारत-अमेरिका संबंधों को बढ़ावा देने में उनकी सक्रिय भूमिका के लिए सदन द्वारा एक स्मारक प्रमाण पत्र प्रदान किया गया।
In the present case, the charge sheet was filed against the accused under section 354 A of IPC and section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Women from Harassment Act alleging that, the accused who had visited the house of the complainant on June 28, 2018, at about 5.00 PM, under the pretext of helping Gayatri Sai in respect of her son's passport, and had sexually assaulted her.The court pointed out that the reply received by the accused from the police department to his application under RTI showed that the said complaint registered in CSR number 160 of 2018, had been closed.वर्तमान मामले में, अभियुक्त के खिलाफ भारतीय दंड संहिता (भादस) की धारा 354 ए और तमिलनाडु महिला उत्पीड़न निवारण अधिनियम की धारा 4 के तहत आरोप पत्र दायर किया गया था, जिसमें आरोप लगाया गया था कि अभियुक्त 28 जून, 2018 को शाम लगभग 5 बजे गायत्री साई के बेटे के पासपोर्ट के संबंध में मदद करने के बहाने उसके घर गया और उसके साथ यौन उत्पीड़न किया।
