Kyiv, July 29 -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appealed to US President Donald Trump for an emergency supply of Patriot air defence interceptors for staving off further Russian attacks on the country's energy infrastructure amid the approaching winter.
In an interview with Axios on Tuesday, Zelensky said he requested an emergency "winter package" of Patriot interceptors during talks with Trump, stressing that Kyiv's existing stockpiles were almost fully exhausted.
The backbone of Ukrainian air defence, without additional interceptors, Kyiv would no longer be able to defend itself from the onslaught of Russian drones and ballistic missiles.
