Bhubaneswar, June 2 -- The birth of four cubs to Zeenat, a tigress translocated from Maharashtra to Odisha's famed Similipal tiger reserve, has provided a major boost to long-term sustainability of the reserve's big cat population.
Announcing the emergence of the newborns, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday said "it as a landmark achievement in the state's wildlife conservation journey and a significant step towards securing the future of tigers in Odisha""Today marks a proud chapter in Odisha's conservation history. Tigress Zeenat, brought from Maharashtra's Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, has successfully given birth to four cubs in the favourable habitat of Similipal," the Chief Minister said in a post on X.
