Bengaluru, June 8 -- Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara on Monday strongly backed senior Congress MLA BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan for inclusion in the next phase of the State Cabinet expansion, describing him as a "capable leader" and saying there was widespread demand for his induction.

Speaking to reporters in Tumakuru, Parameshwara said Zameer, a prominent minority community leader, had performed effectively as a minister in the past and deserved consideration when the Congress high command finalises the second round of Cabinet appointments.
