Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 30 -- Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan on Wednesday directed police to take stringent legal action against those responsible for the violent clash between Youth Congress workers and SFI activists near the University Men's Hostel at Palayam here, while Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan visited the hostel and met students injured in the violence and subsequent police action.
The clash during a Youth Congress march demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar left several students, protesters and police personnel injured, with police using lathicharge, tear gas and water cannons to disperse the groups and bring the situation under control.
