Mysuru, June 27 -- What could have ended in tragedy turned into a story of compassion after a group of young men in Karnataka's Mysuru district risked their safety to rescue an injured deer that had been mauled by stray dogs and trapped in a well.
The incident occurred in Hedatale village of Nanjangud taluk on Saturday when the frightened deer, which had wandered out of the nearby forest into agricultural fields, was chased by a pack of stray dogs. Desperate to escape, the animal sustained bite injuries to its eyes, head, neck and abdomen before plunging into an open well.
