Lucknow, Aug. 23 -- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, describing the initiative as a "brotherly gift" ahead of Rakshabandhan, announced four major benefits for 3.54 lakh women cooks working in schools across the state.

Making the announcement on Sunday, the Chief Minister said the monthly honorarium for women cooks would be increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000.

In the event of an accident, the cook and their family will receive Rs 2 lakh in assistance through the State Bank of India, along with free cashless healthcare coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per year. Furthermore, the clothing allowance has also been doubled, from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000.
