Sanaa, Sept. 12 -- Yemen's government forces on Saturday conducted "precision" drone strikes on Houthi positions in the southwestern Al-Dhale province asfighting between the two sides escalated in the Arab country after years of relative calm.

The Nation's Shield Forces said in a statement that their drones targeted Houthi positions in Al-Dhale, without giving their exact location. Video released by the forces showed an aerial strike targeting a gathering of dozens of Houthi members.

The latest strikes come amid a sharp escalation in fighting between Yemen's internationally recognised government and the Iran-aligned Houthis since early July, with both sides making territorial gains.
