Srinagar, Sept. 2 -- Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) founder Mohammad Yasin Malik, who is currently lodged in Tihar jail, has denied any involvement in the 1990 killing of Kashmiri Pandit nurse Sarla Bhat, terming the prosecution's case against him a "subsequent invention" unsupported by contemporaneous evidence.
J&K police's State Investigation Agency (SIA) in June filed a chargesheet before a Special Court in Srinagar in connection with the 1990 abduction and murder of Sarla Bhat, who was a staff nurse at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura naming Malik and his four accomplices -- Khursheed Chalkoo, Abdul Hamid Sheikh, Ghulam Mohammad Taploo and Mohammad Yousuf Sofi- as accused in the case.
