New Delhi, Sept. 12 -- Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in New Delhi on Saturday to attend the 18th BRICS Summit, marking his first visit to India in seven years and setting the stage for his first high-level meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi since the two countries began easing tensions.

Xi was received at the airport by union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada. He is scheduled to meet Modi on the sidelines of the two-day summit, in what is expected to be the highest-level engagement between India and China since the deadly Galwan Valley clash of 2020.
