New Delhi, Aug. 3 -- The Delhi government on Monday said construction has begun on a new pedestrian footbridge over the Najafgarh Drain in north Delhi, a project expected to improve connectivity between several residential neighbourhoods and provide a safer crossing for pedestrians.
According to an official statement, the Public Works Department (PWD) has sanctioned nearly Rs 2 crore for the bridge, which is expected to be completed within seven months.
The proposed footbridge will connect Gud Mandi, Rajpura, Roop Nagar, Mukherjee Nagar and the Yamuna route. The government said the bridge is expected to benefit students, senior citizens, office-goers and other residents who currently face difficulties crossing the drain.
