Kolkata, Aug. 12 -- Actor Sunny Deol believes that in today's world, women are perfectly capable of helping themselves, but we need to lend a hand to those facing hardships.

Speaking at an event by JIS group to promote his upcoming film "Batwara 1947", Deol was asked whether the familiar cinematic trope of a damsel in distress being rescued by a male protagonist still has relevance in the 21st century.

"Women can save themselves, only need to help those in distress. Regardless of gender, we need to stand by those dealing with problems."In his view, whenever a person finds themselves in a difficult situation and others are unwilling to step forward, offering support becomes a basic human responsibility.
