Chennai, April 28 -- Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Vanagaram in Chennai has successfully treated a rare and complex case of advanced kidney cancer in a 30-year-old woman, where the tumour had extended into major blood vessels, including the inferior vena cava (IVC) and both the right and left renal veins.
The patient complained of having a dull pain in the flanks and was examined by a general physician and an ultrasound and clinical evaluation revealed right kidney cancer with tumour thrombus extending into the IVC, a large vein that carries blood from the lower body to the heart, and, unusually, involvement of both renal veins.
