Kolkata, April 7 -- A woman IT professional was killed in a road accident during peak office hours in Salt Lake's Sector V on Tuesday, raising fresh concerns over reckless driving and road safety in the city's prime IT hub.
Police said the accident took place near the RS Software crossing in Sector V. The victim was on her way to the office on an app-based bike ride when a state-run bus operating on the Karunamoyee-Ghatal route allegedly hit the two-wheeler from behind. The impact threw her off the bike, leaving her critically injured.
She was immediately rescued and taken to Bidhannagar Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
