Panchkula, Sept. 27 -- Haryana Police have arrested a woman for allegedly demanding Rs 70 lakh from a man to get a rape case registered against him cancelled, a police spokesman said on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Suman, a resident of Rampura Mohalla in Hisar, was produced before a court, which remanded her to 14 days' judicial custody at the Hisar district jail, police said.
According to police, the woman had earlier lodged a rape case against the complainant at Civil Lines police station in Hisar.
The complainant subsequently approached police alleging that the woman was demanding Rs 70 lakh from him in return for getting the rape case cancelled and was threatening to pursue action against him if he failed to pay.
