Mangaluru, April 27 -- A train journey from Mangaluru to Mysuru turned unexpectedly into a makeshift delivery room on Monday when a woman, somewhere between stations and destinations, brought a new life into the world inside a halted train in Dakshina Kannada district.

The train was stopped at BC Road Railway Station in Bantwal taluk after the woman went into labour mid-journey. The idea was simple and urgent: get her medical help. But time, as it often does in moments of crisis, refused to cooperate. For more than half an hour, no doctor arrived.
