Moscow, Sept. 5 -- US special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Moscow on Saturday for talks with Russian officials on efforts to end the war in Ukraine, as Washington pushes for a renewed diplomatic initiative to break the deadlock between Moscow and Kyiv.
US President Donald Trump said that Washington had a "fresh concrete proposal" aimed at ending the war, now in its fifth year, but refrained from providing details.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also said that Witkoff and Kushner would travel to Ukraine on Sunday after their Moscow visit. In a post on X on Saturday, Zelensky said Russia had struck two Ukrainian airports ahead of the US envoys' planned visit to Kyiv.
