Hyderabad, Aug. 30 -- Rajya Sabha member and National BC Welfare Association president R Krishnaiah on Sunday urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to withdraw the government's decision to close down polytechnic colleges and scrap the 'Shakti' policy.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Krishnaiah said students across Telangana were protesting against Government Order (GO) No. 97, which proposes changes to the existing polytechnic education system. He alleged that the proposed merger of polytechnic colleges with Mahindra Skill University could affect students' higher education and career prospects.
