New Delhi, Aug. 7 -- As Assam once again battles devastating floods that have affected lakhs of people and claimed over 90 lives, experts attribute the crisis to three converging factors: climate change, Himalayan warming, and a river system undergoing rapid transformation.

Scientists say the floods are no longer driven by heavy monsoon rainfall alone but by changing river dynamics, accelerating erosion, and expanding settlements in flood-prone areas, making floods more frequent, unpredictable and destructive.
