New Delhi, May 11 -- The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) claimed in the Supreme Court on Monday that voter deletions carried out during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls had a significant impact on the outcome of several assembly constituencies in West Bengal.
A bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymlaya Bagchi heard the matter.
Speaking for Trinamool members, Senior Advocate Kalyan Bandhopadhyay said in 31 constituencies, the winning margin of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Trinamool Congress was less than the number of persons deleted in the SIR adjudication process, adding that in many cases, the deletions and the loss margin were almost the same.
