Kolkata, June 6 -- In a significant development, the West Bengal government has initiated a comprehensive survey of all madrasah educational institutions across the state and directed district magistrates to collect detailed information on their status, infrastructure, academic activities and student composition.

The exercise, covering recognised and unrecognised institutions alike, must be completed by July 5, 2026, with consolidated district-wise reports to be submitted to the Department of Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education at Nabanna.

According to an official directive issued on June 5 by the Department of Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education, the survey will be conducted across all blocks and municipal areas of the state.
