Kolkata, June 30 -- The West Bengal government has announced a revised minimum wage structure for workers employed across various industries and service sectors in the state, which will come into effect from July 1.
Labour Minister Arjun Singh announced the decision on Monday.
According to the official notification, the new wage structure will be implemented across the state under two categories - Zone A and Zone B.
Zone A includes municipal areas, notified areas, regions under development authorities and townships surrounding thermal power plants. The rest of the state has been classified under Zone B.
Under the revised structure, unskilled workers in Zone A will receive a minimum monthly wage of Rs 10,558, equivalent to Rs 406 per day...
