Kolkata, June 3 -- The state government has decided to officially observe West Bengal Day on June 20, Rural Development Minister Dilip Ghosh announced on Wednessay.
Briefing mediapersons after a state Cabinet meeting, Ghosh said a new statue of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee would be erected to coincide with his birth anniversary on 6 July.
The state government is looking for a suitable plot of land where the statue will be installed.
The Cabinet approved a proposal to observe West Bengal Day on June 20 instead of Poila Baisakh, which had been recognised by the previous Trinamool Congress government.
