Kolkata, Aug. 12 -- Amid a growing political controversy over BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ananta Maharaj's remarks on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday directed every MLA to establish a dedicated public service centre in his or her constituency in the name of the freedom fighter.
Announcing the initiative in the state Assembly, Adhikari said the centres would be aimed at providing assistance to residents and undertaking social welfare activities. The directive comes at a time when Ananta Maharaj's recent comments questioning Netaji's contribution to India's freedom struggle, have triggered a political storm across Bengal.
