Kolkata, June 1 -- The BJP government in West Bengal on Monday carried out its first major cabinet expansion within a month of assuming office, inducting 35 new ministers, thereby increasing the strength of the council of ministers from five to 40 alongside Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at Lok Bhawan, where Governor R. N. Ravi administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers.
Those who took oath durng the day comprise 13 Cabinet ministers, 19 Ministers of State and three Ministers of State with independent charge.
dhikari is expected to allocate portfolios to the newly inducted ministers later in the day.
