Hamirpur (HP), May 18 -- The seven-day cattle fair at the historic Gasota Mahadev Temple on Monday, (the first Monday of the month of Jyeshtha).

The fair was inaugurated by the SDM of Hamirpur and will run until May 25.

The SDM offered puja of a bull and declared the festival open. Hundreds of local people were present on this occasion.

This historic cattle fair, dating back approximately 400 years, holds immense religious and cultural significance. A Shivling has been enshrined at the Gasota Mahadev Temple for thousands of years.

According to local legends, while a farmer was plowing his field, water, followed by milk and then blood, began to flow from the ground at that very spot.
