Chandigarh, June 11 -- A sudden spell of strong winds, rain, and hailstorms disrupted normal life across parts of Punjab and Haryana on Thursday, leaving one person dead in Amritsar and causing property damage in several districts as a fresh western disturbance became active over the region.
In Punjab, heavy rain accompanied by hail was reported from Amritsar, Jalandhar, and Mansa during the evening hours. In Amritsar, powerful winds reaching nearly 90 kmph swept through several areas. A man lost his life after a wall collapsed, while two motorcyclists reportedly lost control of their vehicles and fell on the road in Jandiala Guru amid the stormy conditions.
