Kolkata, July 31 -- Motorists in Kolkata will soon be able to locate vacant parking spaces in real time through a dedicated mobile application as the West Bengal government prepares to roll out a smart parking management system ahead of Durga Puja.

The app, announced by Municipal Affairs and Urban Development Minister Agnimitra Paul on Friday, will provide a map-based, real-time display of available parking spaces across the city, enabling motorists to find vacant parking slots before reaching their destination.

It will also allow users to pay parking charges digitally, a move aimed at reducing the time spent searching for parking, easing traffic congestion and curbing illegal parking.
