Kolkata, Sept. 7 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday announced an increase in the monthly social pension for widowed women from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 and scrapped the waiting list prepared under the previous government, directing officials to prepare a fresh list of eligible beneficiaries.
Adhikari was speaking at the state secretariat Nabanna at a programme organised to distribute pensions under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) and the Women and Child Development (WCD) Department to several beneficiaries from across the state.
