Kolkata, July 25 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday directed BJP legislators to help in resolving problems in implementing the women's monthly grant scheme Annapurna Yojana in the wake of complaints that many of those eligible stood deprived and some ineligible persons were among the beneficiaries.

The issue figured prominently during a nearly 30-minute meeting of the BJP Legislature Party, where the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the flagship welfare scheme and discussed complaints received from different parts of the state.

Addressing the legislators, Adhikari said the scheme had already become the subject of a political controversy and alleged that the Opposition was attempting to exploit the issue.
