Kolkata, June 17 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday joineda cleanliness drive at Baghbazar Mayer Ghat as the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) stepped up its city-wide cleanliness campaign ahead of International Yoga Day on June 21.
The Chief Minister visited the riverside ghat in North Kolkata in the morning as part of "Swachhta Se Swagat", a six-day civic cleanliness drive started by the KMC in the run-up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled participation at the Yoga Day programme at Red Road on June 21.
During the visit, Adhikari inspected the ghat premises, picked up a broom and swpt several sections of the ghat himself.
He also planted saplings on tbe riverfront.
