Kolkata, Oct. 9 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a substantial lead of 19,691 votes in Nandigram after the second round of counting in the West Bengal Assembly by-election, while the party is also ahead in Rejinagar after the first round, according to Election Commission of India (ECI) data on Friday.

In Nandigram, BJP candidate Hasirani Rath secured 24,056 votes against Congress candidate Milan Pradhan's 4,365 after two of the 15 scheduled rounds of counting, the ECI's results portal showed. Rath was leading by 19,691 votes, with the final result yet to be declared.
