Kolkata, May 27 -- With eviction notices issued to makeshift stall owners and others near Grand Hotel and the surrounding places, the hawkers in and around the New Market area are looking forward to a middle path in discussion with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
Hawkers under the Grand Hotel, gate number six of the Blue Line Esplanade Metro station, and nearby have been given 30 days' time by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation for eviction of footpaths and roadsides. The civic body notice has asked the hawkers to remove their goods voluntarily from their stalls and roadsides, or else the KMC would conduct a demolition drive after the completion of the notice period.
