Patna, Sept. 11 -- The water levels of the Ganga and other major rivers in Bihar, which had been in spate over the past few days, showed signs of decline this morning, bringing some relief.
However, the rivers were still flowing above the danger mark at several locations.
According to data released by the Water Resources Department at 0600 hours, the water level of the Ganga was receding at Patna, Mokama, Munger, Bhagalpur and Kahalgaon. However, the river continued to flow above the danger mark at several places.
Meanwhile, the Ganga was rising at Varanasi, prompting authorities to maintain a close watch on the situation in the downstream areas of Bihar.
