Shimla, July 29 -- Facing an acute water crisis that has left orchards and farmland parched, residents of Gram Panchayat Pooh in Kinnaur district in Himachal Pradesh have urged the district administration to declare the area drought-affected and provide immediate relief to farmers.
A delegation headed by Pooh Panchyat Pradhan Tanzin Dorje on Tuesday submitted a memorandumto the Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Pooh, stating that prolonged dry conditions and inadequate irrigation water had severely affected apple orchards, crops and other horticultural produce, posing a serious threat to the livelihoods of farming families.
