Chandigarh, Sept. 23 -- Punjab police arrested a wanted gangster accused in a grenade attack in Gurdaspur after he was wounded in an exchange of fire with officers in Amritsar district, a senior police official said on Wednesday.
Harman Singh, alias Harman Boparai, suffered a bullet injury in his leg after allegedly opening fire on a police team at a checkpoint, Amritsar Rural Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwalpreet Singh Chahal said.
The Station House Officer of Mattewal police station, Daljit Singh, narrowly escaped injury when one of the bullets fired by the accused grazed past his arm, Chahal said.
