Bengaluru, Aug. 9 -- The BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) on Sunday defended the selection of Jasprit Bumrah and Sai Sudharsan for the Sri Lanka series "subject to fitness", saying injured players cannot be ruled out weeks before a tour when their recovery status may change before departure.
COE head VVS Laxman said the fitness status of players under rehabilitation is continuously monitored and communicated to the selection committee, while BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said the provision ensures that recovering players are not prematurely deprived of an opportunity to represent India.
