Vrindavan, March 2 -- On the occasion of the Holi festival, Devkinandan Maharaj urged people to celebrate Holi without intoxication.
"It is a festival of love; celebrate Holi without intoxication," he said while playing Holi with hydraulic water guns at the Priyakantju Temple, on Chhatikara Road, on Monday.
He showered the devotees who had come to Vrindavan from faraway places. They danced in the joy of Phagun. The festival, which began with the showering of flowers amidst the Holi songs of Braj, was followed by the Lathmar Holi.
At 10 a.m., temple founder Devkinandan Maharaj began Holi by applying gulal (color powder) to the Priyakantju idol in the temple's sanctum sanctorum.
