New Delhi, May 30 -- Vinesh Phogat's hopes of making a comeback and representing India at the Asian Games later this year came to an end after she was knocked out in the women's 53kg category at the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) selection trials held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium here on Saturday.
The Olympian suffered a 4-6 defeat against Asian Championships silver medallist Meenakshi Goyat in a closely contested semifinal. Earlier in the day, Vinesh had used her experience to overcome the challenge of a spirited Nishu in a hard-fought quarterfinal bout to reach the last four.
