Bengaluru, May 23 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is understood to be in the final stages of deciding its Karnataka unit president, with incumbent chief Vijayendra Yediyurappa emerging as the leading contender for a second consecutive term following extensive consultations with the party's central leadership.

According to party sources, BJP central observers Baijayant Jay Panda and Shiv Prakash recently concluded a series of meetings with senior Karnataka BJP leaders before returning to New Delhi to submit their feedback to the party high command.
