Bengaluru, July 5 -- Karnataka BJP president Vijayendra Yediyurappa on Sunday accused the Congress government of "sowing seeds of discord" for political gain and alleged that it had failed to protect backward communities and ensure justice for victims of recent caste-linked violence, even as the BJP inducted former Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) director Sadashiv Vasant Deshinge into the party.

Addressing a party induction programme at the BJP state headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, Vijayendra said the Congress government had remained indifferent to attacks on members of the Halumatha community in Naregal, Haveri district, alleging that neither Chief Minister DK Shivakumar nor any minister had visited the affected families.
