Chennai, Oct. 5 -- In the backdrop of arrest of nine fishermen from Rameswaram on Saturday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay on Monday evening wrote to External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr.S.Jaishankar urging him to secure the release of all 20 fishermen arrested and lodged in Sri Lankan prisonS along with their 270 boats.
In a Demi-Official letter to the EAM, he referred to the latest incident of the nine fishermen arrest and such continuing arrests has caused deep anguish and fear among the coastal fishermen community who depended on the sea for their livelihood.
